The redevelopment began in March 2024, designed to boost the centre’s footprint by over 70%, while preserving seven operating theatres and adding two new state-of-the-art theatres. A new overnight recovery area was introduced, enabling more complex procedures to be handled as short-stay or day cases, reducing the need for inpatient admissions. The therapies outpatient department was relocated to the lower ground floor, creating space for the expanded facilities. Funded in part by the CW+ charity, the redesigned layout offered a more welcoming environment for patients and improved working conditions for staff. These upgrades resulted in shorter waits, better access to advanced procedures, and more efficient care, all while keeping the centre operational throughout construction.
