Overview

Stirling Medical delivered a full FF&E and bespoke joinery package for the Bracknell Forest Centre for Health—a purpose-built, three-storey healthcare facility providing 2,323 sqm of clinical space.

Designed as a centralised hub for integrated care, the centre brings together two major GP practices—Evergreen Practice and Forest Health Group—alongside physical and mental health community services for NHS Berkshire Healthcare and Frimley Health trusts.

Our scope focused on creating robust, compliant, and highly functional clinical environments—balancing durability and hygiene requirements with a welcoming, patient-friendly aesthetic. The solution was also developed to align with the project’s modular construction approach, ensuring efficient installation and long-term performance.

Project Context

The building was delivered using a modern modular construction methodology, with primary structural units manufactured off-site and installed rapidly on location to meet a compressed programme.

This approach required early coordination and precision in design, ensuring that all internal elements—including joinery and FF&E—integrated seamlessly within pre-fabricated room layouts.

The completed facility now provides environmentally conscious, future-ready healthcare space, designed to support patients of all ages while strengthening community-based care provision through co-located services.

What We Delivered

Systeméd Clinical Cabinetry

We supplied purpose-designed wall and base cabinetry tailored to healthcare workflows. Finished in Green Smoke doors with Clinical Light Grey carcasses, the units provide:

  • Durable, wipe-clean storage suitable for clinical settings
  • Clear organisation of equipment and consumables
  • A calm, consistent visual scheme across treatment areas

Bespoke Reception & Front-of-House Joinery

Reception desks were custom-designed to meet the operational demands of high-traffic patient areas while aligning with the interior design intent. Considerations included:

  • Efficient staff workflows and visibility
  • Integration of IT and clinical systems
  • Robust finishes to withstand constant use

Built for Demanding Healthcare Environments

All joinery elements were specified and manufactured for intensive daily use, prioritising:

  • Infection control and ease of cleaning
  • Impact resistance and longevity
  • Consistent performance across multiple clinical functions

Collaborative Delivery

We worked closely with Darwin Group throughout the project, aligning our joinery designs with their modular building system.

By coordinating at an early stage, we ensured that all furniture integrated precisely with factory-built room modules—allowing for rapid, efficient installation once units arrived on site. This approach reduced programme time and minimised disruption during fit-out.

Materials & Finishes

Material selection was driven by clinical performance, durability, and visual impact.

  • High-pressure laminate worktops with moulded and lay-on upstands provide robust, hygienic, and easy-to-maintain surfaces
  • Durable Systeméd cabinetry ensures consistent quality and long-term reliability
  • A palette combining Green Smoke and Acacia introduces warmth, helping to soften the clinical environment without compromising on cleanliness or professionalism

The Challenge

The Centre for Health was developed to replace outdated facilities that were restricting service delivery. Existing infrastructure struggled to meet growing demand, resulting in limited capacity and fragmented care provision.

The key challenge was to create a modern, integrated healthcare environment that could:

  • Increase patient capacity
  • Improve flow and efficiency
  • Bring multiple services together in a single, cohesive setting

The Outcome

Our integrated joinery and FF&E solution played a key role in supporting the centre’s operational goals:

  • Improved clinical efficiency through well-planned storage and workspace design
  • Enhanced patient flow with layouts that support high throughput
  • Greater durability and reduced maintenance across all joinery elements
  • Better use of space, enabling more services to be delivered within the same footprint
  • A more welcoming environment that improves the overall patient experience
